EDGAR STRAZDINS Obituary

STRAZDINS, Edgar John "Ed" Of Burlington, passed away February 14 at Carney Hospital in Dorchester, following a valiant battle with COVID-19. He was 67 years old. Always thinking of others, Ed did everything he could to stop the spread of this disease; he would want others to do the same. Please wear a mask, practice social distancing, and get vaccinated when you can. Ed was born in Boston, and raised and educated in Roxbury and Burlington. He was a 1971 graduate of Burlington High School. Ed went on to further his education, graduating from the University of Lowell with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Always having a thirst for knowledge, Ed also took business classes at Northern Essex Community College, machine design at Wentworth Institute of Technology, and courses at East Coast Aero Tech. Using these skills, he also drafted the blueprints for and, with the help of family and friends, built his Boxford home. In his career, Ed was a dedicated employee who was proud of 45 years of employment with one organization, transitioning from Hewlett-Packard to Agilent and most recently to Philips.Ed was a thoughtful, fun, and quiet man with a great sense of humor and unexpected one-liners. He was kind, good-hearted, and had a gentle spirit. Ed had many interests and hobbies; he was an avid reader and a great cook, and he loved working in his yard and gardening. He enjoyed long nature walks, with one of his favorite destinations being Winnekenni Park. Ed loved dancing, which is how he met his longtime companion, Barbara. Ed was a giving man and always looked for ways to help his neighbors, family, and friends. He was a volunteer firefighter while living in Boxford, a frequent blood donor, and a registered organ donor. Ed was the beloved partner of 11 years of Barbara Dupont of Haverhill. Loving and proud father of Jennifer Hodges & her husband Michael of Princeton, NJ and Catherine Gibbon & her husband Michael of Woburn. Son of Valija (Ruza) & the late John Strazdins of Burlington. Brother of Andrew Strazdins & his longtime partner Paula Gilligan of Burlington. Uncle of Erik Strazdins & his fiancée Ashley Wilton of Methuen and Andrea Resendes & her husband Danny of Wilmington, and great uncle to their two children. Ed loved and was loved by his extended Dupont family. Funeral services will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ed's name may be made to People Helping People, PO Box 343, Burlington, MA 01803. Arrangements under the direction of the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, BURLINGTON. We are very sorry to learn of the passing of Edgar. We are former neighbors of the Strazdins..over 50 years ago living on Sarah Street. We knew both Edgar and his brother Andy as young children. Our hearts go out to the family, especially Edgar’s Mom

Ed was my morning coffee buddy at PHILIPS. We kept each other positive while PHILIPS was downsizing.
Ed made me laugh on so many mornings. A great sense of humor and such a big heart. Always there if you needed to talk.
Thanks for your friendship Ed over the years.
