Edgar "Ed" Harold Vanko Sr. passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the young age of 56. Born in Parma by parents Edgar B. Vanko and Ruth Kuntsen (Holler), he was raised in Hinckley Ohio and graduated from Highland High School.
Ed devoted his life and love to his wife, and soul mate, Tina for 37 years. The bond between them showed all what true love was. Their personalities were perfect for each other and their love and devotion was very evident to all. They joked their marriage was based on entertainment as they laughed and enjoyed life together to the fullest.
His love for his family was unwavering. Also, a loving father to his son, Edgar Jr. whom he loved, supported unconditionally, and always stood by his side.
Ed was known for his kind heart and his constant willingness to lend a hand. His work ethic was unmatched, and he worked to be the best he could and was always willing to pitch in on any project, big or small.
As an Operating Engineer for Local 18 for 30 years, working with Howard Concrete Pumping, he gained a lot of respect and friendships with many in the construction industry. Some knowing him either by Big boom or Uncle Eddie.
He had a great sense of humor. For over a decade he started sending morning jokes to many family and friends daily determined to make everyone start their day off with a smile. He could take a bad situation and make light of the situation to bring a better outlook on something. The practical jokes between his nieces were never ending.
Ed was a devoted dog lover. He was magnetic; dogs would cling to him. He had a special bond with his black labs who, no doubt, are waiting to play ball with him once again.
Ed is survived by his wife Tina (Pamer), son Edgar Jr, father Edgar B. Vanko, sister Linda Rainey (Brian), many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, Dwain Holler, Aunt Judy (Robert) Morris, Uncle Bill (Les) Knutsen any many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Knutsen-Holler, grandparents Harold and Lois Knutsen.
Visiting hours will be held at Waite Funeral Home, in Medina at 765 N Court St., Medina OH, on Friday, May 9, 2025, 4:00-8:00 pm. Services will be on Saturday, May 10, 11:00 am at the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
