In Loving Memory of Edite Martins Lima

With profound sadness and hearts full of love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother, Edite Martins Lima, who left this world on June 15th 2025, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
Edite was the purest example of unconditional love and kindness. She had a heart that never was tired of giving - a gentle soul who always made space for others, listened without judgment, and loved without limits. To be loved by her was to know true warmth, safety, and acceptance.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde on October 26th 1935, she lived her life quietly but powerfully, touching every life she encountered with her compassion, grace, and gentle strength. Her hands made meals that brought us together, her words offered comfort during our hardest days, and her hugs held generations of love.
She taught us, not with grand gestures, but with the simple, unwavering way she showed up - day after day - with open arms and an open heart. Her legacy is one of kindness, humility, and deep, enduring love.
She is survived by her sister Maria Madalena (Mudinha), her children Jose Gigi Lima, Ema Barbosa, Jorge Lima, her nieces and nephew Lilicha, Carmen, Di and Elisa,her grandchildren, Jessica, Randy, Hope, Chris, Emalee, Jazmine, Jacqueline, Jeremiah, Jayden, Vasco, Aden, Ruben, Ciara, Jameson, Dameson, and her great-grandchildren Amare, D'mani, Ava, Kehlani, Chris Jr., and Isaiah, who will carry her memory in every act of love, every moment of stillness, and every choice to be gentle in a world that often forgets how.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at the McHoul Family Funeral Home, 354 Adams Street, Dorchester, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June, 20, 2025 at St. Patrick's Church, 400 Dudley Street, Roxbury, MA. Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Boston, MA.
