Edith Marie (Mueller) Holm, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 26, 2024.
Edith was born on the family farm near Elba, MN to Leo and Lucy (Weiser) Mueller. She was the 9th of 11 children. She attended Dublin country school and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1952.
She met the love of her life in high school and was married for 66 years to Roland Holm on February 15, 1958 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba, MN.
Before she started her family Edith worked at Wires Variety store and Northwestern Bell Phone Company as a telephone operator. The role of being a mother, wife and helping others brought her great joy. She continued this role for the rest of her life. While raising her own eight children she was the go-to babysitter for many working mothers.
Edith was raised in a strong Catholic faith. That faith continued to be a vital part of her life to the very end. She was happiest when she could be of service to others. Whether baking cookies, delivering flowers for Jackie, Meals on Wheels or stopping in for a visit.
She enjoyed bowling, crocheting afghans, and especially decorating for every season and holiday. She watched many of her children’s sporting events ranging from wrestling, football, softball, volleyball and basketball. She was an avid Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Gophers fan, attending some of those games in person.
She also loved to travel, especially to visit her grandchildren in Texas and Alabama. She enjoyed the sounds of waves on the beach and was lucky enough to put her feet in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Edith is survived by her husband Roland, children Colleen, Annie, Monica (Wes) Drake, Gene (Lisa) Holm, Sharon (Tom) Bottensek and Brenda (Dave) Cinotto. Nine grandchildren: Travis, Trent, Rachel, Jeff, Katie, Lynn, Meagan, Daniel and Haley and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Leo “Ted” and Louis “Boots” Mueller and a sister Clara Burt and by many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Lucy Mueller, a son Dean Michael and a daughter Patty Ann, sisters: Leora Loftus, Sr Bona Mueller OSF, and Marlene “Bets” Lehnertz and brothers Cletus, George, Arthur “Nick” and Jim Mueller.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Jonathan Fasnacht officiating.
