Edith Faye (Burns) Falls Jackson, age 96, of Churchville, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025 at the home of her daughter.
She was born July 28, 1929 in Burnsville, a daughter of the late Thomas Hackman and Leta Jones (Folks) Burns.
A Christian, Edith was raised in and attended Burnsville United Methodist Church. She had spent twenty-five years as a quality control inspector at Stanley Furniture Company. She enjoyed listening to country music, working in her flowers, traveling to yard sales and auctions, and was known to be a voracious reader. Above all, she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
The last living child of Thomas and Leta, Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Otis Falls, who passed June 30, 1955; sons, Larry Falls and Roy Falls; daughter, Linda Shull; grandchildren, Larry Falls Jr. and Valerie Lavender; and siblings, Darrell, June, and Rembert Burns, Twila and Jean Roberts, and Helen Puffenbarger.
Surviving family members include her daughter, Sharon Falls and husband, Steven Wimer of Churchville; special daughter-in-law, Judy Falls of Staunton; grandchildren, Andrew Serrett and wife, Tammy of Waynesboro, Kevin Serrett of Waynesboro, Amanda Strickler and husband, Dwight of Staunton; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Cheyenne, Samuel, Tessa and Brianna Serrett, Trenton Strickler and Jordon Shiflett; as well as great-great-grandchild, Jayden Serrett.
A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, with speaker Jennifer Rexrode officiating. A private committal will follow in Burnsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home with light refreshments.
