Edith Mae Krumholz passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of August 28, 2025. Born on December 2, 1933, in Batesville, Arkansas, she lived in Batesville until May of 1952 when she married the love of her life, Truman Krumholz, the day after her high school graduation. In 1953, the happy couple moved to
Springfield, Missouri, where they raised two daughters, Susan and Janet. When the girls were old enough, Edith completed a business program at Draughon Business College. After working at Great Southern Bank and B.F. Goodrich, she was employed at Marshall-Waters-Woody Associates, an architectural firm, as a receptionist, secretary, and bookkeeper for 20 plus years. She took extraordinary pride in the fact that the day she retired the books balanced "to the penny."
Edith found her greatest joy in her family whom she loved mightily. Her love and devotion to her parents, siblings, husband, daughters, grandsons, and great-grandson were both endless and steadfast. As a couple, Edith and Truman enjoyed spending time with close friends and co-workers, as well as vacationing within the continental United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Alaska. Edith also treasured the home she and Truman purchased in 1996 where they lived for the rest of their lives.
Adored by all who knew her, Edith was a sweet, loving, generous, kind, beautiful woman, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She made friends easily and had the gift of making everyone feel at home, spreading joy like confetti through her beautiful smile, sweet disposition and wonderful sense of humor. She had a most incredible run, living 91 plus years. She will be fiercely missed.
Edith was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Truman B. Krumholz, to whom she was deeply devoted, caring tirelessly for him during his long illness; father, William Lewis Bowers; mother, Ollie Mae Bowers; brothers Fred Bowers and Harry Bowers; half-brothers, Lewis Bowers, Roy Bowers, Carl Bowers, Robert Bowers, and W.D. "Rooster" Bowers; brother-in-law OB Kever II; and multiple sisters-in-law, including Patricia Bowers, to whom she was particularly close.
Edith is survived by two daughters, Susan Krumholz Williams and her husband, Richard, and Janet Krumholz Sergo; two grandsons, Matthew Tindell and Joshua Rebstock and his wife, Laura; great-grandson Alex Truman Tindell; sister, Lee Neil Kever; brother, Glenn Bowers; many nieces and nephews; and her precious, furry, four-legged companion, Ginny, with whom she was deeply bonded.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 pm on Friday, September 5th, at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow immediately at 1 pm. Burial will be at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Watching Over Whiskers (WOW), 3014 E. Sunshine, Suite E.,
