Obituary of Lillian Krumholz
On Tuesday, September 10, Lil Krumholz passed into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus. She was the youngest of six children born on the farm to William and Sophie Schrader, on April 29, 1924. She could hardly wait for the second grade and then would be old enough to milk the cows. Well, that didn't last long. Lil received her education in the Bruno school system and graduated as salutatorian of her class in 1941. She attended Augsburg College obtaining Education degrees in Physical Education and Social Science. To pay her way through college, she worked as a live-in maid, a recreational leader, an inspector for a defense plant, but her most prized job was driving a street car between Minneapolis and St. Paul. That was scary at times! With a degree in education, Lil landed a teaching position in Hallock, a small town in the northwest corner of the State. There, she met a returning World War II serviceman, Bill Krumholz, and they married in 1947. Together they owned and operated a mink ranch for 26 years as well as raised German Shepard dogs. With over 3,000 mink, they took pride in many trophies at a number of levels, including internationally. They dissolved their ranch in 1971 and Lil took a position as business secretary in the Hallock School system. While in Hallock, they enjoyed golfing, curling, square dancing, Eastern Star activities, and church activities. In 1985 they moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, to golf every day, and remained very active in the same interests. Lil will always be remembered for the hospitality that she extended to friends and relatives when they visited the Krumholz home. One of her greatest accomplishments is that she has made three hole-in-ones. Lil came back to Minnesota in 2018 and remained under the watchful eye of her daughter in an assisted living facility. Here, she enjoyed the many activities offered, meeting new people, family visits, and just socializing is what she did best.
Lil was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Krumholz; parents, William and Sophie Schrader; and siblings, Walter Schrader, Anne Linders, Irving Schrader, Art Schrader, and Harry Schrader.
She is survived by her daughter, Macky Krumholz; granddaughters Dina Dewing (Jeff) and Heidi LaPine; great grandchildren Lilli LaPine, Leyton Dewing, Norah LaPine, and Reagan Dewing; and many nieces and nephews.
Lil's lifelong goal was to reach 100 years of age and she did just that on April 29th. We had a fabulous celebration of her life and she was there to enjoy every minute. There will be no funeral, per her request.
