Edith C. Laird, 87, of Powell, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the OSU Wexner Medical Center.
She was born on May 4, 1936, in Somerset, Ohio to the late David M. and Evelyn G. (King) Curry.
Edith is survived by her husband, Dr. Emerson L. Laird; four daughters, Alison (Kevin) Sparks of North Andover, MA, Amy (Paul) Carbone of Chicago, IL, Tracy Russo of Kirkwood, MO, Marianne (Paul) Patten of Chicago, IL; sisters, Dorothy Mather, Eileen Hervey, Mary Merryman; brothers, Robert (Jeanette) Curry, Ronald (Pam) Curry, David Curry; nine grandchildren, Lena, Ian and Olivia Sparks, Kelsey, Alita and Christopher Carbone, Sophia (Russo) Notorangello, Laird and Aaron Patten; great-grandchildren, Avery and Alex Notorangello, Marigold Patten.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Richard "Eugene", Donald, Willard, Paul and Clement Curry, two sisters, Helen Walser and Sylvia Broadhurst, and a grandson, Whitley Russo.
Edith enjoyed family, tennis, gardening, hiking, entertaining, travel, biking, classical music, opera, and theater. Charitable giving, including the Kenyon College Edith C. Laird Scholarship Fund, Kenyon College Philander Chase Foundation, Owl Creek Conservancy, OSU Alumni Foundation, Emerson Laird Kokosing Gap Trail maintenance fund, Knox County Historical Society, and many board memberships and chairmanships.
A private service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Kokosing Nature Preserve.
