Edith Mathews Obituary
Edith Faye Mathews, 99, a resident of Truth or Consequences since 1972, died on Friday, March 22, 2024. She was born on November 2, 1924, in Jerusalem, OH to Monford Harrison Davis and Edna Mae (Brown) Davis. Edith was a member of the First Baptist Church and was well known as Miss Edie and Grandma at the VFW #3317, DAV, Moose, and Elks where she was a lifetime member. For over 22 years Edith helped as a babysitter for many in our community. She loved to travel from coast to coast. Edith was our first Gold Star Mother in T. or C. after the loss of her son during the Vietnam war. She was loved by many and always had a smile and a hug for everyone. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her sister, Dellamae Mellott; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monford and Edna Davis; husband, Henry Joseph Mathews; son, James Albert Davis; daughter, Helen Faye Jenkins; and brothers – Joseph, Hills, Warren, Ronald, and Clarence.
