Naomi was employed by the Campbell Soup Company in Salisbury, Maryland for several years. However, teaching was her true calling and passion. She was employed by the Wicomico Board of Education for many years until her retirement in 2021. Many parents requested that she tutor their children during her teaching career because she had a knack for motivating children, explaining subject matter in understandable terms, and making learning fun.
Naomi was a member of the Morning Star Chapter #10 O.E.S, Queen of Sheba #4 of Laurel, Delaware.
She was predeceased by her parents, Eleanor and Bailey Nutter, her sister, Julia A. Brown (Allen), brother, Frederick Nutter, and brothers-in-law, James Hopkins and Gary Barnett.
Naomi's memory will be cherished by her son, Jerry L. Johnson, Jr (Tyronda), her devoted and loving companion, Jerry L. Johnson, Sr., six grandchildren: Juwan Johnson (Carla), Jamila Johnson, Kayla Brown, Erik Hicks, Ra'jeer Johnson, and Jalen Johnson, siblings, Julius Nutter (Joyce), Thomas Nutter (Ruth), Ramona Hopkins, Gwendolyn Barnett, Shirley Afroh and Cecelia Allen, mourn the sudden loss of their youngest sister. She will always have a special place in their hearts. Naomi is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. She was affectionately known as Mom-Mom, Aunt Na, and Nutter to her family members and friends. She had many friends and coworkers who will remember her wit and candor.
Naomi was a great storyteller and always enjoyed a good laugh. She will be missed by all of us.
Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,
for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me. You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows. Surely Your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord
FOREVER.
