Edith P. Rector, age 83, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 5, 2021 at her residence. She was born April 13, 1937 in Scott County, Tenn., a daughter of the late L.C. and Bertha Coffey Phillips. Edith was a member of White Rock Baptist Church in Huntsville, Tenn. and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George Morgan Rector; brother, Bud Phillips, Austin Phillips, Defoe Phillips, Dana Phillips, June Phillips, and Denzil Phillips; and sister, Bernice Jones.

Survivors include her children, Gwynn Morgan, Kathy King and husband Henry, Pamela Georgette Rector, Regina Edith Marsee and husband Robert; eighteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren; brother, Ervin Phillips and wife Lila; sisters, Diana Newport and husband David, Cara Sue Thompson and husband Jerry, and Myrtle Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Landon Sexton officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Terrance Burress, Trent Burress, Trevor Burress, Tyler Burress, Dylan Russell, Phillip King, Darin Cross and Noah Marsee.
