Sandra Thompson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Four Oaks Funeral Home, Inc. - Huntsville on Jan. 20, 2026.
With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, Sandra Gay Boring Thompson departed this life on January 20, 2026 after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a beloved Christian mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who entered her eternal home at the age of 80. Her life was marked by honor, selfless service, and a steadfast devotion to Christ that touched all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arse Mayford and Eula Edith Manis Boring, father and mother in law Jerry Washington and Mabel Helen Yancey Thompson and grandson, Jadon Lewis Jeffers.

She was the devoted wife of Tommy Thompson and the loving mother of three children Todd (Eric) Thompson of San Diego, Sammie Thompson of Nashville, and Jodi (Tony) Jeffers of Huntsville. She played a meaningful role in the lives of four additional children Jeremiah (Brittany) Thompson, Leigh (Trevor) Laughlin, Wesley Murphy, and Alwitt Poitier, offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love; One sister Phyllis (Van) McAdams of Chattanooga, Two brothers Sonny (Linda) Boring of Maryville and Gary (Carol) Boring of Galax, VA

To her family, she was a constant source of strength, wisdom, love, and prayer. She was deeply cherished by her children, grandchildren, extended family and church family, all of whom were blessed by her gentle spirit and faithful heart.

She was proudly known as "Grammi" to her three grandchildren Lexi (Randy Joe) Henry, Drew (Mahaley) Jeffers and Scott Jeffers. She was "GG" to six precious little boys; Henry, Levi, Toby, Avery, Lane, and Rody, who brought her immense joy. They will miss her warm hugs, loving smile, playing with her and her collection of vintage toys, and her steady presence that made them feel deeply loved.

A devoted member of White Rock Baptist Church, she found great joy in serving her church family. She especially loved decorating the church, pouring her creativity and care into events such as Vacation Bible School, Christmas, and other special occasions. Through these acts of service, she reflected her love for the Lord and her desire to make others feel welcomed and valued.

She was known throughout her church and community as a woman of kindness, humility, and quiet strength. Her life stood as a good Christian example-one of faith in action, compassion for others, and unwavering trust in God's promises. She loved being outdoors, nurturing her garden, jet skiing at the lake, embellishing her creative talents, and traveling with the many adventures of her children and grandchildren.

Though she will be dearly missed by her family, church family, and community, they rejoice in the assurance that she is now at peace. Isaiah 43:2 says "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee" assuring us that God's presence through her trials was never wavering. He saw her through them, just as we shall see her again. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life service on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until time of funeral service to begin at 7:00 p.m. at White Rock Baptist Church in Huntsville with Bro. Jim West and Bro. Jeff Davis officiating. Music will be provided by Nancy and Daniel Murley. Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hazel Valley Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Jeffers, Scott Jeffers, Jeremiah Thompson, Randy Joe Henry, Tony Jeffers, Eric Bui. Honorary pallbearers Henry Jeffers, Levi Henry, Toby Henry, Avery Jeffers, Lane Henry, Rody Jeffers.

Special thanks to Dr. Tim Smith, hospice nurse Brenda Smith, her church family and friends for providing meals after her hospitalization.
