Edith Sherman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schlossberg Chapel - Canton on Dec. 16, 2024.
Edith B. Sherman of Hyde Park, MA passed away peacefully on December 14th, 2024 at the impressive age of 97. Loving mother to Marshall K. Sherman, Evelyn J. Pissarro and grandmother to Carolina V. Pissarro. She was also mother to her beloved calico cat, Candy, who brought her comfort and love.
For the past year and a half, Edith was well cared for and resided at the Hebrew Senior Life in Roslindale, MA.
Edith was born on November 26, 1927 to loving parents Katy Kabatchnik and Max Abrams who became new Americans by way of Lithuania. Family was of the utmost importance in her life. She was closest to her sister, Grace Presser, her brother, Milton Abrams and her sister-in-law, Edith Abrams, who have since passed away.
Edith grew up in Roxbury, MA and worked in retail and also the Rustcraft Greeting Card Company with her cousin Francis Paris. She prided herself in providing exemplary customer service, a skill that naturally came to her. She had a love for fashion and was impeccable with her grooming. She was known to be the family hairstylist often turning her home into a salon.
Over the years, she enjoyed adventures across the globe with her daughter and family. She was curious about other cultures, and open to meeting new people. Some of those places included Israel, Italy, Hawaii, Germany, Austria, and Canada. Edith was an excellent cook with endless recipes, and she was a gregarious person who could hold a rich conversation with whomever she met.
Her presence was sweet, loving and warm. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
Her services will be held on Monday, December 16th, 2024 at 11:00AM. The funeral service will be held at Schlossberg Family's Chapel on the Hill at 824 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021 with the interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon.
Expressions of sympathy in Edith's memory may be donated to Hebrew Senior Life, 1200 Centre Street, Roslindale, MA 02131.
