Edith Shouse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home on Jan. 19, 2026.
Edith Howard Shouse, 89, of Versailles, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky, at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Center.

Born on May 6, 1936, Edith was lovingly raised by her grandparents, Milton Alva & Annie B. Howard, in a home where there was never a shortfall of love or affection. Edith was united in marriage to her husband Raymond Shouse, and together they shared nearly 72 years of marriage. Their life together was built upon an unwavering foundation of Christ, love, and family. Edith found joy in sewing, reading, and working crossword puzzles, but her greatest passion in life was her family-especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her days. A devoted servant of the Lord, Edith faithfully served and worshiped as a member of Versailles Presbyterian Church.

Edith will be lovingly remembered by her husband Raymond Shouse of Versailles, children Michael (Vickie) Shouse of Lexington, Deborah Shouse of Lexington, and John (Pamela) Shouse of Versailles; her grandchildren, Kayla (Aaron) McGlone and Krista (Anthony) Shouse; and her great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Addison, Hadley, Nora, Henry, and Sadie. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Rachel, Patricia, and Danny, along with a host of extended family members and special friends who will cherish her memory.

Along with her beloved grandparents, Edith was preceded in death by her brother, David Howard, and her sister, Ginger Collins.

Edith's family asks that memorial contributions be made to the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice Center in Lexington, in appreciation for the unwavering care, love, and support shown to Edith in her final weeks, or to the Woodford County Humane Society. A private, family-held celebration of life will take place at a later date. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolence on Edith's tribute wall at www.blackburnandward.com
