Edith Mae "Edie" (Hartman) Zima was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on September 21, 2025, at the age of 89, at her home in Oro Valley.
Edie was a leap year baby, born February 29,1936, to Harry and Eleanor Hartman in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1953 and married her husband Robert, "Bob", on November 6, 1954. They were married for 70 loving years.
Edie was a shining light, an optimistic, outgoing woman who lived life to the fullest. She said all she ever wanted was to be a homemaker, but she accomplished so much more than that. Edie's first job was as a telephone switchboard operator in high school. She went on to work at the National Security Agency in Maryland and then in the hospitality industry in the Twin Cities, MN, where she moved up the ranks from hotel secretary to Director of Sales and then Director of Sales and Marketing at various major hotels. She finished her career in the sales incentive industry, where she traveled the world, seeing the United States, Europe, England, South America, Canada and the Caribbean Islands.
Edie's boundless energy allowed her to raise four children with Bob during the years of her career; Timothy, Julie, Alexander, and Dominique; raising her family across five states (Michigan, Maryland, Massachusetts, Florida and Minnesota). She also completed two years of college at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN while working full-time.
Edie's enormous heart and endless capacity for love, kindness and compassion served her well at St. Vincent de Paul in Catalina, AZ, where she volunteered for more than 20 years, several times serving as president. She inspired and mentored young girls as a Girl Scout leader and taught her children the value of compassion by befriending and helping those in need.
Edie loved sewing, knitting, needlepointing, quilting, classical music and the Minnesota Twins. She handmade hundreds of beautiful creations in her lifetime, generously sharing them with family and friends, and donating many quilts to children's charities. She enjoyed lots of fun retreats and times with her quilting group in Delano, MN, forming friendships that lasted her lifetime.
Edie is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Eleanor Hartman and brother, Thomas Hartman. She is survived by husband, Bob,
