Gladys D. Zima, age 91 of Antigo, died on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill. She was born on August 31, 1933 in Shawano, a daughter of Ferdinand and Wilma (Spergberg) Kohn. She married Eugene Zima on June 25, 1955 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1995.
Gladys attended grade school in Wittenberg and Deerbrook. She graduated from Antigo High School, class of 1952. After high school, she worked for Weinbrenner Shoe Factory for three years. She was the owner and operator of a dairy farm in the town of Ackley until 1993. She also worked as a bus driver for Mid Wisconsin Coaches for 37 years, retiring the summer of 2006.
Gladys was a member of SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church where she sang in the choir.
She was a 4-H leader for the Deerbrook Clover Leaves, as a child she was a member of Deerbrook Eager Beavers.
Gladys enjoyed quilting, sewing, and animals. Her cats, Fritz and Abbey, were very special to her. She also enjoyed braiding rugs from old clothing, doing jigsaw puzzles, woodworking and baking pies.
Survivors include a daughter, Antonia (Jeff) Luhman of Kenosha; five sons, Victor (Jayne) Zima of Antigo, Joseph Zima of Antigo, Jeffrey (Sandy) Zima of Oxford, Robert Zima of Antigo, and Tracy (Penny) Zima of Antigo; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dennis (Diane) Kohn of Antigo.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores DeRoos; daughter-in-law, Laura Zima; grandchildren, Samantha Zima and Victor Zima Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Eugene Matuszewski.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Kamal Gopu officiating. Burial will take place at the Queen of Peace Cemetery.
