Betty Ann Hetto passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025 at Acorn Assisted Living Facility in Mosinee with family by her side. She was 93 years old. Betty was born on October 27, 1931, in Antigo. She was one of nine children to Joseph and Theresa (Marciniak) Bures of Deerbrook. On October 29, 1949, Betty married Edward A. Hetto at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Neva. He proceeded her in death on October 31, 1989.
As a child, Betty attended St. Hyacinth Catholic School, Friebel Grade School, Holy Cross High School in Merrill, and finished her senior year at Antigo High School.
Betty lived most of her adult life on a dairy farm raising seven children. As a hard worker, she maintained a huge garden, helped with fieldwork and cared for many farm animals. She also provided daycare in her home, sold Avon, drove school bus, worked at the Polar Manufacturing Plant, Eastview Medical and Rehab facility, and for the Aspirus Antigo Hospital. Betty also served as a foster grandparent at North Elementary School.
She was a member of Friebel Homemakers Club, and the VFW and Hospital Auxiliaries. She was president of the Vicariate at St. Wenceslaus for 6 years. Betty had made most of her children's clothing, and was active in 4-H. She enjoyed crafts, BINGO, playing cards, piano and the accordion.
Betty loved dancing, especially to the Beer Barrel Polka, playing softball, and coaching youngsters. She loved her Brewers and Packers. Her passion was bowling, which she continued well into her 80s despite limited vision.
As a devoted Catholic with strong beliefs, she took strength in our Lord. She was an exceptional mother and found the goodness in everyone she met.
Betty is survived by four daughters: Margaret (George) Stankowski of Mosinee, Josephine (John) Brod of Mosinee, Sally Hetto of Colgate, and Emily (Dennis Jarchow) Hetto of Florida; three sons, Kenneth (Kay) Hetto of Deerbrook; Gary Hetto (fiancé' Sherry Lueck) of Deerbrook, and Richard (Carmen) Hetto of Appleton. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Surviving are two sisters, Doris Gonzales of New Orleans and Mary Wermerskirchen of Madison; three brothers, Robert J. Bures of Deerbrook, James (Edith) Bures of Missouri and Joseph Bures of Chicago.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Hetto, a great-grandson Nicholas Boettcher; a sister Lucy Thiis; two brothers, Rev. Francis Bures and Thomas Bures; sister-in-law, Florence Bures and brother-in-law, Jake Wermerskirchen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 20, at 11 a.m at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Neva with Rev. Joel Sember and Deacon Andy Bures officiating. Burial will take place at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church on Monday October 20, from 10 to 11 a.m..
