Edmond "Bob" F. Froment Jr., a proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, passed away on February 27, 2025 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine I. (Alix) Froment with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in 1935, he was the youngest of six children born to the late Edmond F. Froment Sr. and Rose (Vanier) Froment.
Edmond was the best father anyone could ask for to Karen E. Slawski (husband, Don), David R. Froment (wife, Jill) and Kristen E. Bowerfind (husband, Craig); he was also the cherished Peperè of Alex, Mikayla, Benjamin and Jenna. He was the brother of the late O. Gerry Froment, Albert Froment, Cora Brule, Rachel Allen and Rita Froment, and is survived by one of his favorite relatives, his sister-in-law Anita Pare. He was also beloved "Uncle Bob" to many nieces and nephews, and loved his wide circle of friends (with whom he enjoyed playing hi-lo-jack). Edmond was caring, humble, generous, and a true gentleman to all who were lucky enough to meet him.
Edmond was a wonderful singer, who enjoyed many years in the parish choir. Unfortunately, his beautiful singing voice was not passed down to his children! He was also very proud of his years refereeing CYO basketball, and loved watching Providence College basketball throughout his life. He introduced his family to the joys of camping, and was most especially fond of Letchworth State Park, NY, where the family spent many wonderful summer vacations.
There was nothing he loved more than being a host from hosting fondue parties in the 1970's, to disco balls in the 1980's, to many dinner parties and holidays, to the annual Alix Family Clambakes. For many years, he tried to talk Lorraine into opening a B&B, so he could take on the Bob Newhart host role (she respectfully declined).
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:00 am in Ss. Rose and Clement Church, 111 Long St., Warwick. Interment with Full Military Honors will immediately follow at the RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
