Edmond Nelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory - Greenville on Feb. 20, 2026.
On February 9, 2026, we said goodbye to Edmond Thomas Nelson III, our beloved Tripp, at the age of 46 after battling ALS. While our hearts are heavy, they are also overflowing with gratitude for the life he lived and the love he gave so freely.

Services will take place at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 2100 E 5th St, Greenville, NC 27858, Saturday, February 28th from 2p – 4pm.

Tripp was the heart of our family. He had a way of filling every room with warmth, laughter and steady strength. His presence made things feel safe and whole. He did not just love his family, he celebrated us. Every achievement, every milestone, every ordinary Tuesday night around the kitchen table mattered to him.

From the time he was young, Tripp carried a bright spirit. Curious, energetic and full of heart, he grew into a man defined by integrity, compassion and quiet confidence. He lived with purpose. He gave generously of his time and his heart. He believed in showing up for the people he loved, and he did so without hesitation.

His children, Maura and Max, were his greatest joy. Being their father was not just a role he held, it was the honor of his life. He guided them with patience, cheered them on with pride and loved them with a devotion that knew no limits. We can almost see him now, smiling down, proud of who they are and who they are becoming.

To his wife Crystal, he was a true partner and best friend. Their marriage was built on laughter, loyalty, respect and a deep commitment to family. The love they shared was steady and strong, and that love continues, lifted now beyond what we can see.

As a son to Sharon and Ed, Tripp lived with gratitude and deep respect for the foundation they gave him. As a brother to Tracy, he was loyal, protective and endlessly encouraging. He had a way of making each of us feel supported and valued. That gift remains with us.

Tripp believed in enjoying life. He celebrated holidays with enthusiasm, treasured family traditions and turned simple evenings into meaningful memories. He reminded us not to take time for granted. Even now, when we gather together, we feel his spirit among us, encouraging us to laugh loudly, love deeply and hold each other close.

Though we miss him more than words can express, we choose to celebrate the life he lived and the example he set. His legacy lives in the kindness he showed, the strength he modeled and the love he poured into every relationship. We will honor him by living the way he did, with generosity, faith and an open heart.

Tripp is survived by his loving parents Sharon and Ed, his devoted wife Crystal, his cherished children Maura and Max, his brother Tracy, stepfather Dan, stepchildren Landon and Larson, granddaughter Raelyn and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives are brighter because of him.

We will carry him with us in every laugh, every family gathering and every act of love. And we trust that he is looking down on us with that familiar smile, proud of the family he helped build and the love that will never fade.

Breaks my heart to see that Tripp is gone, but I pray he is at peace now after battling ALS. I knew him back when we worked Golden Living Center in 2007. We'd always prank each other bc he was an UNC fan and I'm a Duke fan. He was so much fun to be around and loved his family. He always had a bow tie on, which became his trademark at Goden Living! Lol. He will be missed! Just for you, Tripp.....Go Tarheels!!!!
