Funeral Services for Edmond Thibodeaux, Jr., age 88, will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La.
A visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. by Cecille Dupre. The funeral home will re-open on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services at 2:30 p.m. Deacon Bill Pollingue will conduct the funeral services with burial to follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dylan Ryder, Chad Ortego, Eric Bartsch, Josh Jolivette, Pat Beaux and Carroll Bourque.
Edmond Thibodeaux, Jr., a man of great morals and values, who loved his family, his friends, his dog Taco and his accordion. He passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 10, 2024. Edmond was born in Church Point, La. on August 10, 1935. He grew up in Church Point, La., played football for the Church Point Bears and married the love of his life, Jeanette Gautreaux Thibodeaux in 1956; the beginning of a 59 year long union. He worked for Jax Beer and then was employed with Columbia Gulf Transmission Co as a Senior Measurement Technician. He was then transferred to Houma, La. in 1960 and lived there until a transfer to Opelousas in 1977.
He had a musical spirit playing the guitar and his accordion. He often played at several nursing homes and the visitor center in Opelousas, La.
Edmond is survived by his daughters, Karleen Kaiser of Lugoff, South Carolina, Vanessa Ortego of Opelousas, La., Sandra T. Ryder (Mike) of Opelousas, La. and his sister, Mattie Prejean. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kiley Bartsch (Eric), Charley Ryder, Dylan Ryder, Chelsey Jolivette (Josh), Chad Ortego (Danielle), Tyler Thibodeaux and Taylor Thibodeaux; fifteen great-grandchildren, Erika, Emily, Kyler, Ella, Aubree, Haven, Sawyer, Emerson, Roman, Wilton, Braylon, Jacelyn, Rylan, Adalyn and Bailee and one great-great-grandchild, Khi.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanette Gautreaux Thibodeaux of 59 years; his only son, John Karl Thibodeaux; his mother and father, Edmond Thibodeaux, Sr. and Agnes Henry Thibodeaux; his brothers, Austin, Isaac, Ebeneezer; his sisters, Tiny, Mary and Imogene.

Edmond’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through all those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
