With deep love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the home going of Edna Elizabeth Stancil Calvert to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Edna shared a loving marriage of 64 years with her devoted husband Maurice Milbern Calvert, building a home together with their four children. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love survived by her husband, her children, Gordon (wife Cindy), David (wife Kim), Rodney (wife Donna); her grandchildren, Marty Calvert (wife Trisha), Brandon Calvert, Bethany Humphrey (husband Ben), Brent Calvert; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Milas Wilson and Della Ann Stancil, her cherished sisters Pauline Stancil Phillips and Mattie Lou Stancil Idol, and son Michael Steven Calvert.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted member of First Wesleyan Church, Kannapois, NC, she attended faithfully for many years. She joyfully served in the following ways throughout the years: taught the Young Married Sunday School class, played the organ, and served in the children and ladies ministries.
A graduate of Catawba College and UNCC, she was a middle school teacher in the Kannapolis City Schools for 32 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Lady’s Funeral Home Kannapolis at 1:00 pm with family receiving friends prior to the service beginning at 12 to 12:45 pm.
The family would like to thank the Tucker Inpatient Unit of Hospice of Cabarrus County for their kind and compassionate care.
