Edna Case Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Allen Funeral Home and Crematory on Jan. 20, 2026.
Edna Marie (Pat) Patterson Case, 101, of Bloomington, Indiana, died at home peacefully in her sleep on Saturday morning, January 17th, 2026. Born in Solsberry, IN on January 3, 1925, she was the daughter of Elias and Rosa Belle (Carmichael) Patterson.

She graduated from Solsberry High School in 1942 and then went to work at RCA during the war. There she met her husband, Joseph F. Case, an engineer. They married in 1947 and Edna continued to work until 1952 when their first child was born. She then quit RCA to be a homemaker until her children were grown. During those years she was busy with activities with her two children, belonging to bowling leagues, and enjoyed daily coffee chats with good friend and neighbor, Prue. While at home she took some business courses at Indiana University which led to her becoming an Ophthalmic Assistant at Indiana University Medical Center until her retirement in 1987.

Edna's greatest joy was spending time with her grand and great grandchildren. She enjoyed yard work which she refused to give up until her late 90's, bowling, working out at Senior Flex twice a week with her good friend Yvonne (which they gave up only when Senior Flex shut down due to COVID), reading, and was an avid crossword puzzle and Sudoku solver. She also loved watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, competing with her daughter to see who solved the puzzles first. She also liked watching the Hoosiers play basketball and football. She would have loved football this year.

Left to cherish her memory and to miss her dearly are daughter, Patti (Bill) Wilson, son, Steven (Nedra) Case, grandchildren: Danny Joe Case, Joey (Jennifer) Natalie, Michelle (John Thornton) Natalie and Robert and Richard Case and their families, great grandchildren: Riley Case and Isaac and Maeve Natalie. In 2023 she was blessed with bonus grandsons Billy Wilson and Bobby McKnight and their families when Patti married Bill. She is also survived by 1 niece and 1 nephew, having outlived all her siblings and 10 of her 12 nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, grandson Christopher, 4 sisters: Annabelle, Nettie, Ethel, Zella, 3 brothers: Dale, Roscoe and Herschel. She was also predeceased by 10 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Allen Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral at 1:00 p.m with burial to follow at Liberty Cemetery in Hendricksville, Indiana .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Liberty Cemetery Association in care of Allen Funeral Home.
