Edna Irene Chatfield, 85, of Anacoco, Louisiana passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024 at her residence, with her children by her side. She was born on September 26, 1938 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Herman and Jean Davis.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Jean, her husband, Col. William E. Chatfield (USAF, retired) and by her sister, Donnie Davis.
She is survived by her cousin, Brenda Tell, her children, Robert (Jamie) Celmer, Jr. of Mount Juliet, TN, Leslie Petrovic, nee Celmer of Anacoco, LA and Allan Celmer of Anacoco, LA, her stepchildren, William D. (Johanna) Chatfield of Downingtown, PA, Cheryl E. Thompson of Belleville, IL, Michael J. Chatfield of Belleville, IL, Jill A. Chatfield of Belleville, IL, Sally J. (Victor) Dillow of Gorham, IL, and Peggy L. Chatfield (William) Diuguid of Belleville, IL as well as 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Edna was a lover of nature, and in her lifetime she had been a model, a clerk and an Insurance Agent. More importantly, Edna devoted her life to worship, supporting and encouraging her family and friends, and bringing joy and warm smiles to everyone she encountered.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13th, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, LA, and will be followed by a brief service at 11 o'clock. Afterwards, a graveside service will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Dry Creek, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
