Peterson Brothers Funeral Home - WillmarEdna Marie Kallevig, age 99, of Willmar, passed away Sunday, October 5, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, at Calvary Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Peterson Brothers Funeral Home. www.petersonbrothers.com
Edna Marie Kallevig was born November 20, 1925, in Woods Township, Chippewa County Minnesota to Martin and Susanna (Staurland) Skogstoe. She was baptized and confirmed at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. She attended Chippewa school district 79 and 83 and graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1942. After high school she worked in the office of General Mills in Minneapolis from 1943 to 1946 and was a stenographer at the Minnesota House of Representatives during the 1947 and 1949 sessions of the legislatures. She then worked in the offices of the Willmar State Hospital (Regional Treatment Center) from 1950 to 1959.
On November 9, 1956, she was united in marriage to Orville Kallevig at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed northwest of Willmar. To this union one daughter and five sons were born. During her children’s growing up years, she was a 4-H leader. She returned to work at the Treatment Center in 1977, retiring in 1992.
Orville passed away on January 28, 2007, and in 2008, she moved into Willmar. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Edna loved being with her family and enjoyed gardening, baking, needlework, reading and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her four children, Tom (Pam) of Lino Lakes, Gayle (Gayla) of Willmar, Glenn of Foley, Greg (Renee) of Bloomington Illinois, and Dane (Sarah) of Willmar; eight grandchildren; Rachel (Eric) Bangen, Timothy Kallevig, Eric (Allison) Kallevig, Tyler (Lindsey) Kallevig, Andrew Kallevig, Katie (Taylor) Perkins, Scott Kallevig and Leah Kallevig; and six great grandchildren, besides many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Jane Elizabeth in 1958; her parents; three brothers, Edwin, Kenneth and Stanley Skogstoe; and three sisters, Margit Oxenreider, Pauline Dunlavy and Fern Hjelle.
