Edna R. Remp, 98, formerly of Shoemakersville, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Lester C. Remp, who died December 11, 2014.
Born in Cumru Twp., she was the daughter of the late Wayne A. and Mary A. (Ruth) Hoffert. Edna worked as a sewing machine operator at Globe Underwear Company, Shoemakersville. She was a member of Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, Centre Twp. Edna played bass fiddle and the dobra in a country western band. She enjoyed camping, traveling and gardening. She especially loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren
.
Edna is survived by her daughter: Nancy L. (Remp) Rickert, wife of Norman L. Rickert, Centre Twp.; daughter-in-law: Doreen E. Remp, Shoemakersville; four grandchildren: Dustin Remp (Delilah); Shane Remp (Beccy); Amy (Rickert) Reese (Brian); and Scott Rickert (Kemmy); seven great-grandchildren: Donovan, Delani, Ashley (Adham); Landon (Gianna); Shelby (Trevor), Cody (Amanda); and Zachary; and four great-great-grandchildren: Celine, Amelia, Eleanora and Gabriel. She is also survived by one brother: Wayne Hoffert; and two sisters: Jeanette Zechman and Mary Lou Dietrich. Edna was predeceased by her son: Leroy E. Remp, who died November 11, 2009; and her siblings: an infant brother, Tamsey, Jane, Esther, Fern, Alton, Lewellyn, Lloyd, Pauline and Lena.
Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am from Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, 693 Irish Creek Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery, Shoemakersville. A viewing will be held in the church Wednesday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel at the above address.
