Edna Jane Simpson, 87, of Vilonia, peacefully passed from this life on Monday, March 2nd, 2026, at Heritage Living Center in Conway. She was born January 4th, 1939 in Caraway, Arkansas to the late James Ernest Lucas and Anna Pearl (Jones).
She met her future husband, Bernard, through working in the cotton fields together. They quickly fell in love and were married in 1960. They moved to Jonesboro where she would spend many of her years being a devoted wife and mother to two sons, Bernie and Steve Simpson.
Edna served as an assistant under the Vice Principal of Jonesboro High School, and eventually an assistant for the Superintendent before retiring from Jonesboro Public Schools in 1996. She was a member of Beryl Baptist Church in Vilonia where she enjoyed worshipping and making new friends.
She also enjoyed spending time with her sisters, children, and grandchildren. Her favorite activities included listening to Gospel music, caring for animals, and taking care of her family. She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley.
She is preceded in death by her siblings Villa Mae, Ernestine, Dona, Geraldine, and Monte. She was also preceded by her husband of 65 years, Bernard.
She is survived by her sons Bernie Simpson (Janet) of Vilonia, Steve Simpson (Laura) of Conway; grandchildren, Zachary Simpson (Andrea), Mallory Campbell (William), Luke Simpson, Emily Bezet (Tanner), and Lacy Allen (Reed); great-grandchildren, Jana Simpson, Evie Campbell, Ella Jane Bezet, Blakely Bezet, William Bezet and sisters, Glenna and Lela.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 9th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pine Log Cemetery Pavilion with Tanner Bezet officiating.
For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to NEA Humane Society, 6111 E. Highland Drive, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
Edna will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, love for the Lord, and unwavering devotion to her family.
