Dan Trevathan Obituary

JONESBORO - Dan L. Trevathan, 77, of Jonesboro, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born on June 22, 1948, in Jonesboro to Denver and Ola Rea Trevathan.

Dan was a proud 1966 graduate of Jonesboro High School. He continued his education at Arkansas State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1970, and was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He later received his Master of Arts degree in 1971 from Central Missouri State University.

Following graduate school, Dan returned to Arkansas State University, where he taught in the College of Business for two years. In 1985, Dan began a distinguished career in the banking industry. He served in leadership roles at Citizens Bank, Pocahontas Federal, Commonwealth S & L in Osceola, Home Federal S & L, and Northeast Arkansas Federal Credit Union. Dan's steady leadership and integrity led him to serve as President of Home Federal and later as President of Northeast Arkansas Federal Credit Union.

In addition to his work in banking, Dan was a realtor and broker in Jonesboro for 14 years. He was deeply committed to community service. He served as President and Officer of the Jonesboro Jaycees and was a member of the Rotary Club. He was a board member for the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, Abilities Unlimited, United Way of Jonesboro, and the NEA District Fair Board. He also served as President and board member of the Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce. Throughout the years, Dan received numerous awards in recognition of his service and leadership.

A devoted man of faith, Dan was a member of First Church of Jonesboro. He served as a teacher at Breaking Bonds Ministries and was actively involved in jail ministry. He enjoyed leading and participating in life groups at church and faithfully served on various church committees. Sharing the love and gospel of Jesus Christ was one of his greatest joys.

Dan dearly loved his family and friends, treasuring time spent with them. His warmth, encouragement, and steady presence will be deeply missed. He also found great joy in playing golf and traveling, creating many cherished memories along the way.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Denver and Ola Trevathan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Trevathan of the home; children, Tracy (Rodney) Stephenson of Jonesboro, Ryan (Morgan) Trevathan of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Sophie Trevathan of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Nicholas Bearce, Kaleb (Hannah) Bearce, Kaden Trevathan, Hudson Trevathan, Ellisyn Trevathan, and Rowan Trevathan; sister, Peggy (Jim) Kissinger of Billings, Missouri; brother, Tom Trevathan of Jonesboro; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Southwest Church in Jonesboro. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Miles and Pastor Brandon Dunning officiating.
