Edna Alma Sims

Edna Alma Sims, 69, of Jeffersonville, entered her eternal rest on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Norton Audubon Hospital. Born on October 16, 1956, to the late Samuel Sr. and Anna Sims, Edna lived a life defined by her devotion to her family and her faith.

A lifelong pillar of the Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, Edna's spirit was rooted in her community. When she wasn't attending service, she could often be found at the Bingo Hall, where her luck was nearly as legendary as her smile-celebrating several "big hits" over the years. However, her greatest treasures weren't found on a game card, but in her grandchildren, who were the absolute center of her world.

Edna leaves behind a rich legacy through her children: Don (Destiny) Sims and Frank Sims of Jeffersonville, and Tylea Sims of Louisville. She is also survived by her sister, Anna Sims; her brothers, Joseph, Robert, John, and Gerald Sims; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Samuel Sims Jr.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church (1501 Thomas V Bryant Dr., Jeffersonville, IN 47130).
