Brant Ping Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by E M Coots' Sons Inc Funeral Home on Feb. 15, 2026.
Brant Logan Ping, beloved husband and father, died peacefully at the age of 75 surrounded by his family at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

He was born on October 31, 1950, in Terre Haute, IN, to the late Warren and Jane Ping. Brant moved to Indianapolis as a child and grew up there, graduating from Arlington High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, he graduated from Indiana University followed by Indiana University Mauer School of Law in 1981. His early legal career was at Legal Aid of Indianapolis. He transitioned to Marion County Juvenile Court, where he passionately worked for the remainder of his career.

Brant was a great father to his children, dedicated to supporting them through their sporting events, academic activities, and whatever new interest they pursued. He loved music, with a well-known eclectic taste that included playing piano well. True to the family name to stay on brand (no relation to the company, though), Brant would only play Ping golf clubs and spent as much time as he could on the course.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Kerry Herdt Ping; children Logan Ping and Kelsey Ping; siblings Brenda Ping, Bart Ping, and Bradley Ping (Lida); niece Alice Ping (David).

Per Brant's wishes he will be cremated at E.M. Coots' Sons Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, IN. Memorial donations can be made in Brant's honor to the ACLU of Indiana at https://action.aclu.org/give/support-aclu-indiana.
