Edna Mae (Huth) Smith

March 22, 1935 – October 15, 2025

Edna Mae (Huth) Smith of Childress, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 22, 1935, in Montague County, Texas to Cecil & Ruth (Arnold) Huth.

Edna was a woman of warmth, creativity, and resilience. She had a lifelong passion for crafts, especially painting and cross-stitch, which she shared generously with those around her. Her artistic spirit brought beauty and joy into many lives including her children and grandchildren.

For 52 years, Edna proudly served her community as an Avon representative, building lasting relationships. Her kindness and dedication also drove her in many other endeavors - notably operating Details Tanning & Toning for many years and working as a beautician.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Darrell Smith, and her son, Devin Ryan Smith. She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Lynette Smith; her son, Darin Wayne Smith; and her cherished grandsons: Chasen Hunter Smith, Mathew Ray Smith, Clinton James Smith, and Devin Ryan Smith, Jr.; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, October 21, at 1:00 p.m., at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tim Medley officiating. Burial will follow at Childress Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Edna will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
