Edna Margaret Steele, aged 97, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, surrounded by loved ones with tears, sadness and spiritual joy. Born on September 12, 1927 in Savannah, Tennessee, Edna Margaret Steele was the beloved daughter of the late Luther, Sr. and Josie Porter. Edna was the mother of 12 children. Her memory will be cherished by her children Nancy Ellens (James), Melvin Siner, Sr. (Rochele), Johnny Goodlow(Phyllis), Joyce Cherry, Paula Porter, Paul Porter, Renata Casandra Porter, Priscilla Whitehurst (Jeffrey) and Margaret Steele. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Steele; children: Patrice Irvin, Roy Dixon, and Deborah Steele; and her siblings Drucella, Louise, Luther Jr., Helen, Lucille, Jonell and Katie Beth. Her memory will also be cherished by her last surviving sibling, Chesterine Goodlow of Savannah, TN along with her close friend Barbara Faye Ross who would sit with her almost everyday and her life-long friend, Magdeline Weatherspoon. Edna's linage consisted of five generations with a total of 109 in her legacy. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, humor, mother-like qualities to many that were not even her own and the love of picking greens, making biscuits and fried pies for her family. The impact she had on the lives of those around her was unmeasurable. Edna's greatest joy was being a mother and striving to keep the importance of family up front and center.
