It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edna Hutcherson Tolbert, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who quietly departed this world on the morning of January 1, 2026, at Clinch Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born to Willie and Mae Ola Whitfield Hutcherson, Edna devoted her life to the community of Homerville, where she spent the majority of her years.

Though Edna worked at the sewing factory in DuPont for a time, her greatest joy came from being a dedicated homemaker, nurturing and supporting her family with unconditional love. She was a gentle spirit whose warmth touched everyone she met.

Edna has rejoined her beloved family in eternity, being preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Minnie Louise Malone, her son Andrew Hutcherson, stepson Willie Sam Evans, and stepdaughter Barbara Jean Evans.

She leaves behind a legacy of love encapsulated in her four children: Mabel Wiggs of Homerville, Maybell Johnson (Warren) of Homerville, Sheila Curtis of Douglas, and Johnny Lee Tolbert (Crystal) of Hornell, NY. Her life will forever be celebrated by her twenty-eight cherished grandchildren, whose names weave a beautiful tapestry of family—Kevin Hutcherson, Minnie Favors, Earnest Taylor, Larry Johnson, Arthur Malone, Christopher Malone, Willie Swinson, Travis Swinson, Victoria Swinson, Victor Swinson, Megan Davis, Warren Rudolph Johnson, Dominique Edwards, Demura Richardson, Darby Ellis, Lavell Ellis, Andyonna Hutcherson, Dillon Hutcherson, Shanitra Pope, Tyshon Pope, Andrew Hutcherson, Jr., Kelly Hutcherson, Tyshon Jackson, Athena Tolbert, Danielle Tolbert, Abigail Drake, Olivia Drake, and Brogan Clark—alongside a host of great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Edna is survived by her beloved stepchildren: Marilyn, Mary, Kenny, Calvin, and Clinton Evans. She will also be missed by her three sisters, Ethel Bush of Orlando, FL, Mary Lambert (Jerome) of Valdosta, and Martha Webb of Gainesville, FL, as well as her two brothers, Willie Floyd Hutcherson (Debra) of Orlando, FL, and Albert Lee Hutcherson (Gene) of Valdosta, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A funeral service celebrating Edna's life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 12 PM noon at New Vision Church of God, 215 Dickerson Street, Homerville, GA, with burial to follow at Pine Forest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM at Roundtree Funeral Home.
