Edna Youngless, 92, of New London, died Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk.
Edna was born Nov. 18, 1931, in Blue River, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert and Lola (Hamilton) Haywood.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New London. Edna lived her life with a servant's heart. She was faithful to her church and served as a past president of Alter Rosary Society. She served over 30 years as a STNA at Fisher-Titus Medical Center, Norwalk. Edna enjoyed shopping, reading, gardening where she canned and froze their produce, and was a talented seamstress. She loved her family and cherished their family dinners.
Edna is survived by her son, Richard Shepherd of New London, Janet (Ken) Hockenberry of Manassas, Virginia, Robert (Beth) Shepherd of London, Ohio, Jill (Dale) Elek of Elyria, and Theresa Youngless of New London; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bill Haywood of Florida and Patsy Henegar of North Ridgeville; and best friend, Sue Black.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert L. Youngless, who preceded her in death in 2019; son-in-law, Ken Hockenberry; and siblings, Charles Haywood, Everette Haywood, Bob Haywood, Donald Ray Haywood, Opal Perry, Ethel Martin, Thelma Perry, and Annie Haywood.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Eastman Funeral Home, 200 W. Main Street, New London, with a Rosary Service at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 18 Park Ave., New London. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, New London.
For those who wish to honor Edna's memory, the family suggests that the Rosary be prayed and if donations wish to be given, they be directed to Our Lady of Lourdes, New London.
