Edward Albright Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
Edward George Albright, 76, passed away peacefully in Sparks, NV surrounded by his family at his bedside August 5, 2025, from a Catastrophic Stroke accompanied by multiple heart issues. Left to carry on his legacy and traditions are his two children, Brent Albright, Kelly Albright and his five grandchildren.

Eddie was born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana on March 4, 1949; he was the youngest of three brothers. Following High School, Eddie received a full-ride scholarship to attend the University of Wisconsin; he was the first member of his family to attend college. While attending the University of Wisconsin he met Kim Casler: the love of his life. It was, "love at first sight." They married on July 31, 1971, had two children, Brent and Kelly and moved to California after Eddie earned three graduate degrees from Indiana University.

Eddie excelled at athletics discovering that his athleticism could take him places. As an athlete at Elkhart HS, Eddie earned varsity letters in football (2), basketball (2) and track (3) and was also the recipient of EHS's Tim Bringle Award. In football, Eddie was a two-year starter at quarterback and safety and was MVP his senior year. He also started as safety in both the 1967 Indiana Boys' Club All-Star and the Indiana Shrine Bowl Games. In basketball, Eddie was the 6th man as a junior and a starter his senior year under Max Bell; he was #2 in scoring, rebounds, steals and assists as a senior as EHS won another sectional championship. In track, Eddie became the all-time EHS and Rice Field record holder in the pole vault and won the Northern Indiana Conference Meet in the pole vault and long jump. While attending the University of Wisconsin, he played outside linebacker and earned three varsity letters and Honorable Mention for "All Big Ten" as a sophomore and senior. He was Sports Illustrated Linemen of the Week and earned University of Wisconsin's Most Courageous Award.

Eddie was both an athlete and academic success: after college he moved his family to Lompoc, CA where he was named Principal of Lompoc High School. His career in education included teacher, coach, high school Principal and Vice Principal but Eddie had more to give. He founded a non-profit organization: The American Dream Foundation. As he was raised with minimal resources, he knew that many of the kids he was teaching could flourish with a little financial and moral support. His foundation raised money to sponsor and support both athletics and academics for children attending Lompoc HS and the surrounding community. This was his "I can do more give back"; his motto was "if they fit in, they stay in." His hard work and dedication was not only for his own success but for the students, people and community around him. When he was younger, teachers and coaches made all the difference for him to succeed and flourish: he certainly "played" it forward. Eddie led a very happy, active life filled with family, friends, and many activities and projects; such as, gardening, riding his motorcycle, cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events, woodworking, and excursions in their fifth wheel especially to Lake Tahoe: don't forget playing fetch with Cookie. Eddie's heart and sole were devoted to being a husband, father and grandfather: he was a family man. Always making everyone feel welcome, loved, and supported; he graciously placed family first. Eddie was accomplished and had a lot to be proud of, but always remained humble.

Eddie and Kim retired to Sparks, NV in 2015 to be close to Kelly and her family; they just loved being grandparents. Eddie loved camping with Kim, family and friends especially at Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas: bike rides, golf cart rides, walks and really anything outside where he could feel the sunshine, watch the sunset and developing thundershowers. Both him and Kim enjoyed the beautiful mountain range views from their back patio; they were blessed with the most beautiful view! It was the perfect location to renew their wedding vows celebrating 53 years of marriage on the Fourth of July with their family and friends surrounding them: right next to their beautiful rose garden!

God was waiting with open arms to greet one of his Angels; let Eddie and Kim rest in each others peaceful arms forever.

At Eddie's request there will be no services.

Dear Brent and Kelly ... and families .
So thankful that we had a "friendship" talk with your dad some time ago . From the day that your mom was walking that little dog on Skyline Drive... then we walked to your house and discovered that neither the dog nor your mom were little .... we met your family and your dad was Eddie. Have appreciated the two of you over the years and so sorry that we cant keep up , but we will treasure always our memories of all of you with prayers of love and joy in Jesus . Loving you in Him , Jim & Wanda

Hard to believe Ed is gone. Joan and I send our love and sympathy to Brent, Kelly and family. We kind of fell out of touch after he and Kim moved to Nevada. What memories our family shared: growing up in church together, weddings, camping, Tahoe, Sunrise, Reno, etc. I thank Ed for all his support of me in my efforts as an educator and coach. Ed did a great job as Principal and Vice-Principal at Lompoc High School. Those were some great job and memories (school awards, CIF Championships, etc.). Kim and Ed were close friends to us in Lompoc. We are so sorry they have passed away. Gone, but not forgotten. I am having a hard time processing all of this...
Thanks to Brent and Kelly and their families for always including us in things.
So sorry for your loss. My memories just keep coming back to me...just not believable.
Take care!
Love,
Dick Barrett

Kelly we are so sorry for your loss. He is no longer in pain and now with the love of his life. My heart is so happy because I´ve got so many memories to look back on. I remember when I first met Ed. There were a group of moms wanting to ask the principal a question since we all had freshmen and it was a whole new world. Well your Dad walked over and said hi and we all just stopped talking and stared at him. He was so handsome we all kinda forgot what we wanted to say He was so nice and we finally remembered our questions! After he left someone said well if my son gets in trouble I´ll definitely be there for the meeting!!! We all laughed. Our families became friends and we had many great times. One of my best memory was our snow trips in Feb to Shaver Lake! Wow did we have fun. So many great kids, so many laughs. Couch Ayer even had to call a night practice cuz we had half the team with us. Your Dad & Mom were some of the best there were and will be greatly missed. You will continue their legacy and they will never be forgotten. Love you sweet girl and may the good Lord give you peace and may your memories make you smile. Karen & Gary & families

Your Dad was a great friend and neighbor of my parents Jim & Delores Seber. They enjoyed many Saturdays in my Dad's garage building projects discussing the world and especially enjoying my Dad's waffles. He would always make two for Ed. I appreciated the friendship they had so much. It filled my father with such joy. Sending my prayers that you keep all the wonderful memories to carry you forward. With love Shawn Hastings/Seber.

Sending you and the family all the love in the world. Knowing it was a gift from God that your wonderful daddy no longer has to suffer with the ailments of this life and was able to rejoin your fabulous mama is such a peaceful thought! Their love and character is reflected in the absolutely wonderful human that YOU are. Your commitment to their care, comfort and enjoyment in life in their final years is an exemplary demonstration of YOUR true love, appreciation and compassion to your parents. You have such a strong moral compass with infinite integrity. They loved you so much and are so proud of you as am I.
Love you,
Suzanne

Eddie adopted me as a friend in elementary school when I transferred from Elkhart to Concord. He was the connection I needed to feel welcomed. It seems we "ran into each other" over the years and I did have a nice chat with him when Kim passed for which I will be forever grateful

We lived next door to Ed and Kim when he was the principal at Lompoc High. They were great neighbors and a wonderful family. Brent and Kelly were great kids. Ed loved coming to our house for biscuits and gravey when Kim was out of town. We have some great memories of them. Cris and I are sorry for your loss. We love you both and still think of our wonderful memories of your family.
Your Friends Always

Wonderful memories of friendship, family, and laughter. Ed was committed to the children of our community. He encouraged others to educate, love, respect, and support the students in our community to do their best and work together in unity. May the love and comfort of Jesus surround and carry his family and friends as they remember Ed and his loving wife, Kim.

Cousin Ed was always a hero of mine. I loved watching him play football. I still remember when we were at my Grandma Sevison´s house and Ed came over to introduce us to Kim.
Prayers of comfort and peace for all his immediate family. While incredibly sad, I rejoice that he and Kim are back together where they belong.
