Edward Felton Bachemin

Edward Felton Bachemin, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on November 16, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on October 23, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Edward Leonard Bachemin and Myrtle Rose Casmier Bachemin-Sholes, Edward's life was a testament to his resilience, generosity, and unwavering spirit.
Edward grew up in a vibrant household, alongside his siblings, Barbara Jean Bachemin Van Buren (William), Joy Ann Bachemin Joseph (the late Norman), Beverly Marie Bachemin, Leonard Francis Bachemin, and Westley Sholes (Jacqueline), the late Cordell Stephens Bachemin (Myra), and the late Olanda Alicia Bachemin Shannon, all of whom he shared an unbreakable bond with.
The patriarch of a large and loving family, Edward leaves behind his devoted wife, Ruthy Watson Purnell-Bachemin, with whom he shared a beautiful life and countless memories with, and his children whom he was always proud of, Kevin Michael Bachemin (Stephanie), Sonya Latrice Bachemin-Gholar, Troy A. Watson Sr. (Melissa), and Le'James F. Watson (Erika). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Brandon, Brandi, Brenton, Britney, Demuar, Cortnec, Donovan, Desmond, Kirstin, Troylynn, Markelle, Yori, Jaron, Jade, Elysse, Emile, Troy Jr., La'James, Le'James, Nicholas, Devonta, Quintin, Kierstin, and Desire, as well as, his great-grandchildren, Sierra, Evan, Jayden, Aaliyah, Donovan Jr., Maya, Tyson, Jadyn, Madillyn, Edyn, La'James II, Payton, Zoey, Nicholas Jr., Karson, and J'Vion. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, all of whom he loved greatly.
A proud graduate of St. Augustine High School, Edward furthered his education at McNorton Rhett Technical College (aka Sidney Collier). His thirst for knowledge and dedication to service led him to a distinguished career in the United States Air Force, where he served honorably as a Sergeant. His time in the military instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.
Edward found joy in his involvement with the Starlight Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a beacon of faith and community involvement. His commitment to service continued as he became an active member of the Hi-Lo Bidders Carnival Club, where his infectious laughter and warm presence were a staple at every gathering.
Edward's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, a hobby that provided him with countless hours of tranquility and reflection. He was also a culinary enthusiast, known for his delectable dishes that brought family and friends together around the table.
Edward's life was a beautiful mosaic of the relationships which he nurtured and memories he created. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
