Edward Andrew Berdej, "Eddy", 64, of Cedar Knolls passed away on March 2, 2025. Visiting hours at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd. in Whippnay will be on Saturday, March 8th from noon until 4pm. There will be a Parastas Prayer Service at 3:00pm during the visitation. Private interment will be held at a later date.
Born in Lesko Rzeszow, Poland, the son of Jaroslaw "Jerry" and Anna (Hubisz) Berdej, Eddy came to the United States when he was 9 months old and settled in Cedar Knolls. A 1979 graduate of Whippany Park High School where he played soccer, he also earned a degree from the Joe Kubert Art School in Dover. Eddy was a graphic artist. Early in his career he was an illustrator for Archie comics and later worked at the Daily Record, AT&T, and A.M. Best, before going independent. Eddy was an artist, sculptor, cartoonist, lyricist, antique collector, musician, bottle collector and author. He enjoyed flying model airplanes, studying the history of Hanover Township and the Pine Barrens and searching for artifacts along the Whippany River. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband and devoted family man.
Eddy was the beloved husband of the late Lynette. He was the devoted son of Anna and the late Jerry Berdej. He is also survived by his dear brother, Bogdan and his wife Tara, his cousin Elizabeth Hanania, his aunt Brygida Sierpowski and family, nephew Kevin Berdej, Sr., niece Alexandra Berdej and great nephews Kevin Berdej, Jr. and Demitre Keenan as well as many other members of Fallot, and Berdej families.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Eddy may be made to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 N. Jefferson Rd., Whippany, NJ 07981.
