Edward Michael Blackburn
June 24, 1950 – November 12, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Michael Blackburn, age 75, of Roswell, Georgia, who entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on November 12, 2025.
Born on June 24, 1950, in Chamblee, Georgia, Michael lived a life grounded in faith, family, and service. A devoted Christian, Michael met his beloved wife Cheryl in 1970 at Norcross First Baptist Church. They shared 46 years of marriage marked by their inseparable love and affection for each other. He was a dedicated father and discipler to his sons, Joel and David Blackburn, and his daughter, Elizabeth Chacon. He was also a cherished grandfather, affectionately called "Daddy" or "Grandaddy", to his seven grandchildren: Emanuel Chacon (11), Isabella Chacon (9), Lydia Blackburn (6), Brielle Chacon (6), Josiah Blackburn (3), Emery Blackburn (2), and Melodi Chacon (1).
Michael is survived by his wife Cheryl, his children, and their spouses: Elizabeth and Danilo Chacon of Norcross, Joel and Sarah Blackburn of Alpharetta, and David and Shanna Blackburn of Canton. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte and Randy Reeves, and his nieces, Anna Witkoski and Anastasia Reeves, as well as a host of extended family and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
Michael earned his Bachelor's Degree from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and was an accomplished classical pianist and organist as a performer, teacher, and worship leader. He retired after a successful career in procurement management. He and Cheryl found their church home for the past decade at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Atlanta, where he continued to nurture his spiritual life through worship, study, and fellowship. In retirement, he was able to spend more time with his grandchildren, continued playing the piano and organ, and most recently, he expanded his hobbies with woodworking.
A man of unwavering devotion, Michael lived out the words of 2 Timothy 4:7:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
His life was a testament to steady faithfulness, kindness, and a heart devoted to knowing God and making Him known.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Charles Blackburn.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, love for Scripture and theology, and devotion to his family. His legacy of love, kindness, and faithful service will continue to live on in all who knew him.
Funeral services for Michael will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Mount Vernon Baptist Church (850 Mount Vernon Hwy, Atlanta, GA 30327) with Rev. Ronnie Stevens and Rev. Brad Thayer officiating. A graveside service will follow at Peachtree Memorial Park. The family will gather with friends for visitation on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Cheryl and family and friends, it is with profound sadness that I learned of Michael´s passing. It is with joy that I think of his welcome into heaven. In the words of the immortal song, "I can only imagine." Prayers for comfort, acceptance and Grace to all who knew and loved this talented man; wonderful husband, dad and granddad; and faithful
Christian who served our Lord so well.
