Edward Kevan Blasdel (known throughout his life as Kevan), age 77, of Piedmont, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday morning, March 6, 2025, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
Kevan was born on June 28, 1947, in Berkeley, California, and grew up in the San Francisco bay area. As a teenager, he spent his summers working on a cattle ranch in Cedarville, California. He graduated from Piedmont High School (in California) class of 1965, where he was active in student government and sports, especially cross country and track. The high school motto was "Achieve the Honorable," which he carried with him for his whole life. He pursued higher education at the University of California in Davis and the University of Texas in El Paso. During the Vietnam war, Kevan served his country as a sergeant in the Army's 1st Air Calvary Division, where his honors included the Air Medal, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. When he returned to civilian life, he began his career in the banking and finance industry. He retired from Citibank in 1993 when he was given the hard choice of moving out of state to stay with the company or staying to help his dad who was ill.
In 2000, Kevan moved to Piedmont, Oklahoma. He enjoyed being an active member of the community, serving as a member of the Windmill Park board, Piedmont City Council, and Piedmont Area Veteran's Association. Kevan was a regular at the gym and could be seen on early mornings running his 5 miles a day route through Piedmont, until a couple of years ago when he developed congestive heart failure.
Kevan is preceded in death by his parents Marguerite and Edward Blasdel of Piedmont, California. He is survived by his sister Shelley Begley, nephew Aaron Begley, and niece Laurel Begley.
Kevan will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving and loyal friend, son, brother, and uncle.
A graveside service will be held at Kansas Cemetery in Piedmont, Oklahoma, on Thursday, March 20, at 11:00 AM.
Memorial gifts may be made to: Piedmont Area Veteran's Association, P.O Box 253, Piedmont, OK 73078, www.pavavets.org
