Edward Booth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clayton Funeral Home, Inc. - Kings Park on Dec. 23, 2025.
Edward Booth, born July 23, 1934, passed away on December 21, 2025, at the age of 91. A devoted husband, father, and craftsman. His long life was marked by quiet strength, steady devotion to those he loved, and an unwavering sense of integrity that shaped every chapter of his journey.

Born to Harold and Anna Booth, Edward grew up in a close and loving family. He was preceded in death by his siblings John, Jimmy, and Elizabeth, whose memories remained close to him throughout his life. He also carried the profound loss of his son Timmy, whom he remembered with enduring love.

At the age of 19, Edward answered the call to serve his country. He entered the United States Army in 1953 and saw active duty during the Korean War, an experience that instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, resilience, and pride.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife Ruth, with whom he shared many years of companionship, laughter, and mutual devotion. He is also survived by his children from his first marriage-Helena, Kathy, Irene, and Walter-who remember him as a loving father. His son Jim, whom he and Ruth raised together, also survives him and carries forward his father's legacy of kindness and hard work.

A lifelong plumber, Edward dedicated his career to UA Local 1 in New York City, where he not only excelled in his craft but also served as a longtime teacher in the apprenticeship program. He took immense pride in mentoring young plumbers, passing on both technical skill and the values of hard work, humility, and craftsmanship. Many in the trade remember him as a patient instructor, a trusted colleague, and a man who always led by example.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

I would be at the services tonight if I could. Mr Booth was my Plumber's Local #2 (now Local #1) teacher from 1986 to 1990. He was a great man and teacher... Tough as a Bulldog, but very fair. He instilled the great pride of being a Union Plumber in us and how important it was for us to represent properly and to hold the highest standards of craftsmanship, our word and that The Boss needed to make money too. I enjoyed a few beers with him later on down the line. He was a standup guy and he never even told us about his service in The Forgotten War, Korea. He had a funny name for his unique, handmade metal dust pan:
"Ok...boys time to clean up...get me "The Hansfager." Guys who studied under Eddie know what I'm talking about. Love you Mr Booth...See you at The great "Gin Mill" in the sky someday. You were First Class in every way. Matt Sweeney Sr.
