Edward "Ed" M. Borowicz, age 93, of Erie passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at AHN St. Vincent. He was born January 24, 1931 in Erie the son of the late Maximilian and Maryann (Szocki ) Borowicz.
Ed graduated from Tech Memorial High School where he lettered in several sports. After high school, Ed went on to serve in the US Navy during the Korean War on the fletcher-class destroyer, USS Twining (DD-540); a time period in his life he very much enjoyed. Following his discharge he became a first class mechanic with Penelec retiring in 1991 after working there for 31 years.
Ed enjoyed playing various sports including golf and slow-pitch softball. He was a member of the Penelec Athletic Association and enjoyed caring for his home and lawn. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Catholic church and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years,Constance "Connie" (Alacce) Borowicz who died January 23, 2023; three brothers, Leo, Joseph, and Al Borowicz and four sisters; Agnes Majczyk, Sophie Upton, Angela Kosobucki, and Theresa Modzelewski.
Ed is survived by his two sons; Jeff Borowicz and his wife Carol, and Daniel Borowicz and his wife Jacquie, all of Erie. He is the proud grandfather of Danny, Michael, Amanda, and Nicole Borowicz along with a great-granddaughter, Layla Borowicz. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Ed’s family would like to thank the staff of the Erie VA Medical Center for their wonderful care, especially Urology nurse Chris.
Private Funeral Services will be held with entombment in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie VA Medical Center Patient Activities Fund, 135, E.38th St., Erie, PA 16504.
