Edward Bourbeau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Godere - Guillot Funeral Home, Inc. on May 22, 2025.
Edward J. Bourbeau, Jr.
October 9, 1933 – May 21, 2025
Edward J. Bourbeau, Jr. passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center, his home for the past three years.
Born in Norwich, Connecticut on October 9, 1933, he was the son of Edward and Germaine (Socquet) Bourbeau. Ed graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1951 and began his career at The Enterprise in Norwich, now the site of the Otis Library. It was there he met the love of his life, Delphine Robert. They were married on June 6, 1953.
Ed proudly served his country as a Company Clerk in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. Upon returning home, he and Delphine settled in the Greenville section of Norwich, where Ed managed Mr. Big Department Store for many years. He later worked at The Liberty Store in Norwich, retiring in 1998.
In retirement, Ed enjoyed spending half the year at the family cottage in Misquamicut, Rhode Island, and the other half with his sister Barbara and her husband David Duncan in Naples, Florida. These seasons brought him joy, filled with family memories and cherished traditions.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Delphine, who passed away on May 16, 2024. He was also predeceased by his siblings: June (Bourbeau) Angelopoulos and her husband Teddy, Barbara (Bourbeau) Duncan and her husband David, and Richard Bourbeau.
Ed is survived by his loving children: Suzanne (Bourbeau) Colaluca, Edward Bourbeau, David Bourbeau and his wife Amie (Gionet), and Jeffrey Bourbeau.
He leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Michael Colaluca and his wife Alexandria, Andrew Fitch, Jeremy Bourbeau and his wife Jessica, Samantha (Bourbeau) Bohannon and her husband Patrick, and Danielle (Bourbeau) Haywood and her husband Antwan.
Ed's greatest joy in life was his six beautiful great-grandchildren: Sloane, Maddox, Eli, Cleo, Lucy, and Mia.
The family holds dear the memories of summers spent together at the Misquamicut cottage and their annual trips to Cold Springs Resort in Ashland, New Hampshire.
The Bourbeau family extends heartfelt gratitude to the devoted caregivers at Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center. Their compassionate care and kindness made Ed's final years meaningful and full of comfort, especially in the time following Delphine's passing.
