Eugene married the love of his life, Peggy Delois (Chambliss) on June 6, 1950. They had seven children, 6 sons and 1 daughter. Eugene and Delois owned the White River Inn for several years. Other than that, Eugene worked in the timber industry. He enjoyed watching birds, telling hunting and fishing stories, sharing memories with Delois and visits from family and friends. He was a member of New Life Church in Newport, Arkansas.
Eugene is survived by five sons; Ronny Bumpous (Teresa), Donny Bumpous (Gennie), Tim Bumpous (Elizabeth), James Bumpous (Kim), Thomas Bumpous (Christy); sister, Lorene Foster; son-in-law, Bill Hill; daughter-in-law, Judy Bumpous; 35 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and countless family members and friends.
Eugene is preceded in death by his wife and parents; son, Lonny Bumpous; daughter, Connie Hill; 2 grandsons, Tanner and Brian Bumpous; great grandson, Noah Ruddell; great-great granddaughter, Sophie Wilson; siblings, Pauline Ball, Larry Bumpous, Troy Bumpous, Earline Harris, Opal Bumpous, Gertie Maples, James Bumpous, Vernon Bumpous; daughters-in-laws, Margie, Sheree and Leslie Bumpous.
Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm Thursday, January 25, at Powell Funeral Home of Bradford. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, at New Life Church in Newport, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Brown's Memorial Cemetery, Union Hill, Arkansas.

My favorite memories of pawpaw was him laughing and telling Jokes, and scaring us with that mask and telling me to put my tongue on those big battery's that shock you haha and that alligator head he would say it bit his finger and if we ain't careful it will bite ours and granny yelling Eugene stop messing with those kids and he would laugh that laugh only paw paw could do and the story he would tell about fishing with his hands he could talk with his hands
