Obituary
Edward G. 'Buddy' Calcek, 95, of Fallowfield Twp., passed away on Thursday April 6, 2023. Born on July 15, 1927 he was the son of the late George and Mary (Kudlac) Calcek.
He was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and the Holy Name Society. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII, and was a retired steelworker for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen. He made family a top priority and was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great-pap-pap. During his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing with the family at their "Camp Good Times" in Tidioute. In his later years, he enjoyed birthdays and holidays with his grandchildren and going to the casino.
Edward is survived by his children, Edward G. (Lynn) Calcek, of Fallowfield Twp., Mary K. Beckley, of Fallowfield Twp., and Deborah (Donald) Danter, of Elizabeth Twp.; grandchildren, Matthew (Tara) Bowers, Kristen (Brian) Montag, Renee (Brian) Blankenship, and Nathan Blackburn; great-grandchildren, Helena and Noel Bowers, and Zachary and Luca Montag; brothers, Charles (Janice) Calcek and Joseph (Ellen) Calcek; sisters, Margaret Collins, Rose Prewett, Jane Malmgren, and Donna (Joseph) Caruso; 2 special people, Sr. Kathy Kudlac O.S.F. and Sr. Hilda Marotta O.S.F.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 50 years before her passing, Helen Calcek; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Carl Bowers; grandson, Carl Bowers, Jr.; son-in-law, Larry Beckley; brothers, William Calcek and David Calcek; and sisters, Jean Yuhasz, Catherine Weight, and Helen Geho.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, April 10, 2023.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am on Tuesday at St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Charleroi, with interment following in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
