Edward G. Cattaneo

Edward G. Cattaneo, born on April 14, 1962, in Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Edward served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Navy during Desert Storm, exemplifying the values of dedication and service. Following his military career, he became a successful business owner, running a 7-Eleven in Virginia Beach that became a cornerstone of the community.
A man of many talents, Edward was proficient at the piano (show tunes being his favorite), bringing joy to those around him with his music. He also found solace in gardening, cooking, crochet, and knitting, pursuits that showcased his creativity and love for life's simple pleasures.
Edward is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Gustave Edward Cattaneo and Eleanor Kanakos. He is survived by his devoted husband, Edward Bennett Card, Jr., and his sons, Edward Cattaneo and Christopher Cattaneo. He also leaves behind his stepson, Ben Card, and five cherished grandchildren. "Uncle Eddie's" memory will be carried on by his five siblings, along with numerous friends and extended family.
Edward studied music at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, reflecting his commitment to personal growth and learning. He dedicated time to volunteer at the Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church, where he found a sense of community and purpose.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Eastern Shore Chapel Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church in Edward's memory by clicking here.
Edward's warmth, kindness, strong willed personality and unwavering spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace, knowing his legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched.
