Edward Hugh Clark, affectionately known as "Ed", transitioned to eternal rest, Sunday, May 4, 2025, while a patient at Woodhaven Court Nursing Home, Albemarle, North Carolina. Ed was born in Stanly County, North Carolina, July 6, 1939; and was the son of Beadie Sr. and Versie Staton Clark. He will be loved and remembered for his great sense of humor and generous spirit shown towards his family and friends. We are thankful for the years we shared his life. May he rest in the loving Arms of Our Lord and Savior.

He was educated in the Stanly County Public Schools and was employed in the textile industry before retiring after many years of dedicated service.

Ed was reared in a Christian home. He and his family were life-long members of St. Matthews Church of God, Oakboro, North Carolina. In his pastime, Ed enjoyed watching westerns and cheering for his favorite Carolina Panthers NFL Team. He found great joy in watching his younger grandsons play football, who aspire to follow in the footsteps of his older grandson, who is a professional football player. Other hobbies include: telling jokes, making others laugh, and dancing. At the nursing home he was known as the "dance machine".

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Christian Clark; sons: Nathan E. Watkins and Levette Watkins; parents, Beadie Sr. and Versie Clark; siblings: John Clark, Beadie Clark Jr., Thelma Lilly, and Emma Clark.

His memory and beaming smile will forever live in the hearts of his son, Vincent Watkins; daughters:LaSonya Autry, Renee' Watkins, Tangela Christian, Barbara Bost, Tammy Bost, and Tondra Clark; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; special young ladies who were dear to Ed: Tammy Pemberton, Christina Hall, Lashonda Lewis, and Tina Allen; brother-in-law, Daniel (Charlie Belle) Christian; sister-in-law, Phyllis Christian; aunts: Betty C. Smith, Mattie Clark, and Leola Clark; a host of other relatives and friends.

"Our Father's grace will enfold us. His power will sustain us until we meet again."
