Edward "Ed" Clark, a man of many talents and an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, passed away on May 16, 2025, in Jackson County, Missouri, at the age of 78. Born on April 24, 1947, in Kansas City, Ed was a spirit as vibrant as the city itself, possessing a unique blend of charisma and tenacity that endeared him to many.
A graduate of Raytown High School, Ed furthered his education at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, where he honed his abilities and laid the groundwork for a life filled with accomplishments, and was a proud member of Delta Chi. His intelligence was matched only by his spirited personality; Ed was known for being ornery, opinionated, and undeniably charismatic. Anyone who crossed his path quickly realized that engaging him in conversation would inevitably lead to lively banter, a testament to his wit and charm. Indeed, he was loved by many because of his ability to connect through conversation and shared views.
Throughout his diverse career, Ed embraced various roles with the enthusiasm and fervor that characterized his entire life. From his early days, he exhibited an innate ability to connect with others, which eventually led him to become an auctioneer, a private investigator, a registered Santa Claus, an FFL arms dealer, a real estate agent, owned a Rawleigh business selling Rawleigh products, and most recently, an accountant who took pride in running his own business. Additionally, he served as the treasurer of the Accounting Club. He was a jack of all trades, yet a master of all, showcasing his multifaceted skills and passion for life in every endeavor he undertook.
Ed's interests extended far beyond his work; his passions were as diverse as his professional endeavors. He was deeply engaged in politics, often sharing his opinions and insights with anyone willing to listen and was a proud member of the Young Republicans Club. Outside of the realm of serious discussion, he found great joy in fishing at Table Rock Lake and dabbled in scuba diving, making the most of his cherished home state. A devoted season ticket holder to Silver Dollar City and Starlight, Ed relished spending time at the park with his family, particularly his mother, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. He also held a special affinity for cigar smoking, which often accompanied his reflective moments.
Ed's passing was preceded by his parents, Eugene "Gene" and Mabel (Seidelman) Clark, and his brothers, Stephen "Steve" Clark and Curtis Wayne Clark. His remarkable legacy lives on through his niece, Christy Abel (David); his nephew, Phillip Clark; fourteen great-nieces and nephews, and twelve great-great-nieces and nephews.
While his presence will undoubtedly be missed, friends and family will gather to celebrate Ed's remarkable life. A visitation will be held on June 4, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, Missouri, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Ed will then be laid to rest at Forest Hill & Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri, during a graveside service taking place at 2:30 PM.
