Edward Earl Cusher
June 7, 1928-November 3, 2023
Edward Earl Cusher was born June 7, 1928, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of George Earl and Estella May (Brutzman) Cusher. He grew up around Central City.
Ed graduated from Central City in 1948. He joined the Army Signal Corp, during the Korean War, from January 29, 1952, to January 8, 1954.
On February 12, 1955, Edward was united in marriage to Donna Iola Techau in Waterloo. The couple had a daughter, Catherine (Cusher) Shimp, and made their home in Waterloo. They lived in the same house for almost 70 years.
Ed worked for Carnation for 30 years delivering milk. When he retired, he delivered flowers for Rainbow Florist. He loved to go to auctions and fixing things. Ed loved watching the Chicago Cubs and went to games in Chicago.
Ed died on November 3, 2023, at the age of 95, at NewAldaya Lifescapes. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Bryan) Shimp of Webster City; two granddaughters, Jennifer Shimp from Rochester, Minnesota and Nicole Shimp (Nate Anderson) from Mays Landing, New Jersey.
Ed was preceded in death by his wife; parents; two brothers, Robert and Jim and two sisters, Betty (Cusher) Harrison and Nora (Cusher) Jordan.
Ed will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be directed to the Sullivan Hartogh Davis Honor Flight.
Visitation: Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories in Waterloo, 965 Home Plaza, Waterloo.
Service: Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at 11:00 am at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories in Waterloo.
Burial: Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted.
