Edward Francis "Ed" Doran

Edward F. Doran, 86, of Sarasota Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on
November 30, 2025. Ed was born on March 11, 1939, to William Joseph Doran, Sr., and
Mable M. Doran in Chicago, IL. Ed and his family moved to Sarasota in 1955 where he
attended Sarasota High where he played football. He graduated from Tulane University and
went on to graduate from law school. After graduating he became a trust officer and vice
president working at several banking institutions including Sarasota Bank and Trust and
Bank of Boston. He took great pride in assisting his elderly clients often making home visits
to check in on them. Ed was a world traveler with Ireland always being his favorite
destination. He loved fishing and the outdoors and enjoyed making sure their 8-acre ranch
always had a "park like setting."

He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Bill, and his nephew, Billy. He is
survived by his wife of 58 years, Virginia, his children, Jennifer Fontana (Michael),
Christopher Doran (Nelly), Margaret "Meg" Pack (Tracy), and Patrick Doran (Tracy), his
grandchildren, Nicholas Fontana, Julia Fontana, Madison Pack, Tanner Pack, Nathanael
Doran and Liam Doran, and his niece, Laura Nixon (Martin). In lieu of flowers, the family
requests donations be made to Tidewell Hospice Sarasota. A private family service will be
held at Sarasota Memorial Park at a later date.
