Edward Drotar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palm Royale Funeral Home & Cemetery on Dec. 30, 2025.
Edward Charles Drotar, affectionately known as "Fast Eddie," passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, in Naples, Florida, at the age of 87. Born on June 19, 1938, in New Haven, Connecticut, Edward lived a life marked by energy, dedication, and a deep love for his family.
Edward earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Hartford, where he also served as captain of the university's champion tennis team. His leadership on the court reflected the drive and determination that would define his professional life. He went on to build a successful
career as a production & materials executive in the manufacturing industry working for such companies as Pratt & Whitney, Fafnir Bearing, Honeywell, Wang Laboratories, Partylite Gifts and Kryptonite.
Throughout his career, Edward was known for his ability to keep things moving- true to his nickname-and for making meaningful contributions wherever he worked.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Edward had a vibrant personal life filled with music,
travel and outdoor pursuits. Right out of High School, he toured Asia as a member of the USO Big Band led by the Dorsey Brothers- a testament to both his musical talent and adventurous spirit. An avid traveler, he and Stephanie explored the world together : Italy, France, Greece, The Netherlands, Belgium, England, Australia, a month in New Zealand, Dubai, Mexico and too many beach resorts to mention. Since Ed loved to drive they took the roads less traveled and had a great run. He remained connected to his academic roots through active membership in both the University of Hartford Alumni Association and the Boston University Alumni Association where his wife is an Alumna.
Edward found joy in many hobbies: fishing, playing tennis, creating
music that stirred memories and emotions, and relaxing at the beach. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie June Drotar of Naples, FL; daughter Karen Elizabeth Drotar of Manhattan Beach CA and Naples FL; sons David James Drotar of Concord, NH, and Michael Arthur Drotar of Loudon, NH; his beloved grandchildren Luca Edward Ayadi, Jamie Robert Ayadi, and Emily Kelly Agnes Noel aka "His Favorite Granddaughter" -all three of Manhattan Beach, CA. He also leaves behind his sisters Dineen Agnes Rivera of Portland, CT, and Joyce Drotar Larobina of Coventry, RI; and his brother Scott Drotar of Atlanta, GA.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Edward Michael Drotar and Agnes McMillen Coughlin.
May Edward's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his remarkable journey through life.
A graveside service will be held Friday, January 9, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Palm Royale Cemetery, 6790 Vanderbilt Beach Rd. Naples.
A Reception will be held immediately after in Naples at the Pointe in the Clubhouse for friends, neighbors and family to remember and celebrate Edward's life.

I have not seen Eddie since my sophomore year at Portland High School in Portland, CT. We were on the class C tennis team in 1956. We were pretty good
Eddie was competitive and he must have used that during his working life and thereafter
I happened to find him in Naples about 5 years ago and we Email back and forth.

Rest in peace "Fast Eddie"
