Edward (Eddie) Snuggs Dennis, Jr passed away on April 21, 2024 in Whiteville, North Carolina. Eddie was born November 24, 1941 in Whiteville to the late Edward (Sr) and Marjorie Dennis.
He was a graduate of Clarkton High School and North Carolina State where he excelled in sports. He also played college baseball for NC State. Eddie spent his life working in the agriculture/fertilizer business with Kaiser, ConAgra and G & C Fertilizer. He enjoyed golf and was one of the owners of Black Creek Golf Club for a time. He also loved to hunt and fish. He had a heart for animals and usually had a dog or a cat close by. He was in numerous civic organizations over the years, including the Savannah Downtown Rotary Club. Many will remember Eddie for his jokes and his card tricks. He was active at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church and later at Pembroke United Methodist Church. Upon returning to his home place in January 2024 he attended his childhood church, White Plains Presbyterian.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Janice; his parents; and his sister, Ann Lanier.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah (Ronnie) Williams; his son Ed (Karen) Dennis; his sister, Barbara Heustess; seven grandsons and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
His caregivers - Marie LaVant and Brian Paul - have provided love, care and support to Eddie and the family throughout the years.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life Service will follow in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel
Graveside service will be private.
Pallbearers will be; Mike Brazell, Pete Peterson, Rick Green, Matthew Waters, Joey Clark and Andy Starr.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Grace Independent Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Winkie Glisson Memorial Fund, 31 Westhampton Drive, Black Creek, GA 31308.
